What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that creates the effect of natural, full brows. During the procedure, pigment is manually deposited under the skin of the eyebrows using a delicate needle and individual strokes.

Each stroke is individual and replicates natural hair patterns. Microblading can create or redefine the shape of brows, fill in empty/sparse areas, thicken, extend, or create brows for clients who have lost all of their brow hair.

The results of Microblading last between 8-24 months depending on a variety of factors such as the care taken during healing, skin oil levels, skin colour, exposure to the sun, etc. Most clients will need their first additional appointment 8-12 months after the initial procedure to keep their brows looking fresh, but this time frame may vary between individuals. The Microblading procedure is composed of two separate appointments; the initial appointment and touch up appointment. The touch-up appointment is scheduled 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment. The duration of each is approximately ninety minutes.

The reason Microblading is done in two separate appointments is because each individual stroke needs to heal by itself and not blur into other strokes. In order to do this, spaces must be left between the strokes.

Through the knowledge and understanding of tools, techniques, colours and other key elements of this program, Microblading Technicians are able to give clients realistic and beautiful semi-permanent brows.

Why Microblading?

There are a number of reasons clients choose Microblading and its benefits over current alternatives. It is important for Microblading Technicians to understand these differences and be able to advise clients on the best option for the effect they are trying to achieve.

A few key points about Microblading:
  • Microblading is semi-permanent and less invasive than traditional cosmetic tattooing. The needle only reaches the epidermis layer of skin, not the dermis layer of skin that is reached in cosmetic tattooing.
  • Microblading is more natural looking than traditional cosmetic tattooing.
  • Microblading fades out over a 8–24 month period. This means that as styles change your client’s brows can be altered.
  • Microblading is well suited to give clients with hair loss and other conditions full and beautiful brows.
